ERZURUM REGION PROJECTS
The region of Erzurum, which is situated within the Eastern and Anatolian Orogenic Complex between the Pontide and Anatolian tectonic zones, play a crucial role in siginificant metallogenic belt extending from the Balkans to Eastern Turkey and further to Iran. Volcanic and plutonic rocks in the region are notable for base metals (Cu-Pb-Zn) and epithermal deposits (Au-Ag-Sb-As).
The most important metallic ores in the region in terms of metallic minerals are copper, molybdenum, chrome, and mercury deposits. The significant copper-molybdenum mineralization in the province is the Ulutaş (Vank) Cu-Mo deposit in the İspir district, with a tenor of 0.31% Cu and 0.022% Mo, and a potential reserve of 73.6 million tons. The mercury deposit located in the Narman district was operated for some time in past years.
In structural-controlled rock samples, there are traceable anomalies with 1-5% Cu values. In this region, there are also Pb-Zn anomalies accompanying Cu, making it a potentially significant area.
